About
I gained a 1st class degree in Painting & Drawing at Glasgow School of Art where I explored textures, patterns, and colours on different surfaces to evoke various emotions and memories. This thinking and approach informs my frame making.
Framing
The process
I bring 25 years of creative ideas, technical and conservation framing experience. I’ve enjoy the ‘making’ as a process.
My approach to frame making is intuitive, creative and collaborative. The initial discussion about the artwork is where the process starts and from there we explore different creative routes that we could take.
The materials
All my framing is bespoke. For hand painting I use artist quality acrylic paints, earth pigment paints and a range of Farrow and Ball paints. I also work do bespoke gilding and gesso work.
I use conservation mount boards both soft and hard wood mouldings for framing which are FSC approved. I offer standard, acrylic and conservation glass. All backing boards are acid free which help protect the artworks in situ.
The creative space
The framing workshop an important creative space for me. I believe that the environment in which we create and work within is crucially important to creativity, productivity and happiness.
